Minister William E. Coleman Jr. is the father of three, and husband of New Jersey State Assemblywoman - Bonnie Watson Coleman.

 

He began his career as a New York City Police Officer and eventually became a Detective Training Specialist, providing sensitivity training at the New York City Police Academy.  He has more than twenty-five years experience in the public and private sectors primarily in administration, human resource development and training.  He has more than fifteen years of management and professional experience in juvenile programs.  

 

Minister Coleman is currently Vice-President of Resource Investment for The United Way of Greater Mercer County.  He is in charge of funds allocations, community building and capacity building.  He helps those who are less fortunate help themselves, by providing grants to community based programs and collaborating with community service providers to address human service needs.

 

Minister Coleman is President and CEO of W.E.C. Resource Group, L.L.C., a public relations, government relations and resource development consultant firm.  As a private consultant, Minister Coleman has worked for a variety of organizations and companies including the Head Start Programs of Newark, Asbury Park, Hackensack, Ocean County and the New York Regional Office.  He has consulted for the New Jersey Departments of Human Services, Corrections and Personnel; the Boards of Education for the cities of Paterson and Plainfield, New Jersey; New York University, Mercer County College and the Partnership Group Inc., Pa.  He has conducted workshops and seminars on such diverse topics as interpersonal skills; value clarification; sensitivity and cultural diversity; team building; sexual harassment; conflict resolution and conflict management.  he has also given presentations on time management; stress management; and goal setting.

 

As the Director of Human Resources for the Watson Company, Inc., Minister Coleman developed and implemented training for the City of Trenton Public Works Department, the Health and Human Services Department and William Paterson University Campus Police in the areas of leadership, interpersonal skills, team building, conflict resolution, work place diversity, managing diversity, racism and its affects on the workplace and understanding discrimination, sexual harassment and affirmative action.   He provided training to the Correction Officers employed by the New Jersey Department of Corrections in the areas of workplace diversity, sexual harassment, racism and discrimination, as part of a federal consent decree.

 

Mr. Coleman holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Human Behavior from John Jay College of Criminal Justice; a Masters Degree in Planning and Public Administration from City University of New York, Baruch College, and is currently enrolled in the Master of Divinity program at the New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, New Jersey.  On March 4, 2001 he preached is licensing sermon at Shiloh Baptist Church.
